who i am
My name is Catherine. In my free time, I love to ski, mountain bike, and run or hike (when I’m not sidelined by an injury).
I am a meteorologist and environmentalist who is passionate about storytelling through data. I created this site as a place to document and explore the questions I find myself asking about weather, climate, and society. You’ll also find content centered around skiing and outdoor recreation, as I hope to make skiing more accessible by sharing tips, experiences, and conversations around the sport.
Many of my hobbies are directly impacted by weather and climate change, so this site naturally blends outdoor recreation, environmental communication, and data-driven analysis.
Climate change communication is what ultimately drives me. Throughout my career, I’ve found that meteorologists often communicate primarily with other meteorologists. But what value does a strong forecast or impactful research project have if the broader public can’t connect with it or understand what it means for their daily lives?
My goal is to communicate weather, climate change, and their impacts in a way that is analytical, accessible, and grounded in real-world experiences. Through data-driven projects and exploratory analyses, I hope to make complex environmental topics easier to understand and more relevant to the people experiencing them.
